DEE WHY, New South Wales/Australia (Thursday, May 5, 2011) - After two explosive days of ASP Women's World Title Tour competition, organisers of the Commonwealth Bank Beachley Classic have called a LAY DAY due to inconsistent half-meter surf at Dee Why Point, today.

"True to predictions we've seen a further decrease in swell overnight and with another swell building tomorrow, we've decided to give the girls a well-deserved break," Layne Beachley, seven-times ASP Women's World Champion and Contest Director said.

After a marathon of back-to-back events in Brasil, New Zealand and now Sydney, the remaining eight surfers in this year's competition will welcome the opportunity to relax and enjoy the sights of Sydney.

The Quarterfinals will see a clash of nations will unfold when competition resumes, starting with an all South American battle when Silvana Lima (BRA) takes on Sofia Mulanovich (PER) in Heat 1. Hawaiian surf fans will have to pick their favourite surfer when Carissa Moore (HAW) goes up against Melanie Bartels (HAW) in Heat 3 while Australian surfers Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS) and wildcard Nikki Van Dijk (AUS) meet in heat two and four times ASP World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS) takes on Tyler Wright (AUS) in Heat 4.
