Billabong Pro Tahiti Back ON for Round 3, Round 4 on Standby

TEAHUPOO, Taiarapu/Tahiti (Wednesday, September 1, 2010) - The Billabong Pro Tahiti, Event No. 5 of 10 on the 2010 ASP World Tour, has been called back on this morning with two-to-three foot (1 metre) waves coming through at Teahupoo. Round 3 will enter the water at 6:30am, with Round 4 on standby.

"We still have swell on offer this morning and we'll be starting competition today at 6:30am," Richie Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. "The surf has dropped in comparison to the last two days, but looking ahead, we think these will be some of the better conditions. The plan is to complete Round 3 with Round 4 on standby. We'll be monitoring conditions carefully.
Up first this morning will be reigning ASP World Champion and current ASP World No. 6, Mick Fanning (AUS), 29, up against wildcard Tamaroa McComb (PYF) in Heat 13 of Round 3.
Surfline, official forecasters for the Billabong Pro Tahiti, are calling for a small mix of south and southwest swell will prevail for the last days of the waiting period along with moderate to strong easterly trades.
