Year Round Night Surfing at Cloud Nine

Empty Perfect Cloud 9

CLOUD 9, SIARGAO, PHILIPPINES - Cloud 9, possibly the best break in Asia, will literally come under the spotlight from October, 2010, when Cloud Nine Night Surfing opens for busines

A fifty foot tower with floodlights will illuminate the simply beautiful Cloud 9 break, 365 nights a year, for night surfing enthusiasts and everyone who wants to try this alternative rush. An internet camera on the tower will provide global visibility and reach.

Construction of the Cloud Nine Night Surfing floodlight tower is underway and is slated for completion by mid-October, 2010. Cloud Nine Night Surfing will provide safety boats and life guards during all surfing sessions and, for those who can't bring their boards to Siargao, there will be boards available for hire.

Cloud Nine Night Surfing will be officially launched on 24th September when Philippine Vice President Binay will break the ceremonial surf board at the venue.

The Cloud 9 break is famous for its flawless tubes that curl along the break for up to 300 meters, making Cloud 9 one of the top-10 breaks on the planet. During the months of September through December the tubes are of most interest to experienced surfers, as they can reach five meters or more in height when the conditions are right - under the influence of the southwest monsoon with a storm brewing over the Pacific Ocean. "There is nothing between Siargao and Hawaii except the power of the Pacific Ocean". During the rest of the year the break is the playground for novice and intermediate surfers.

To reach Siargao Island you can fly direct from Mactan Cebu International Airport or fly from Manila international airport to Surigao City and then take a ferry to Siargao. Cloud 9 is located on the East coast of Siargao Island, at the North shore of the municipality of General Luna.

Accommodations in the area varies from inexpensive fan rooms (US$15+ per night) to secluded beach front villas (US$100+ per night).
