The Animal Newquay welcomed the biggest storms of the year to open the final round of the 2009 UK Pro Surf Tour. After a night of 60mph storm force winds and 6m swell created ferocious surf conditions contest Director Dave Reed made the call to move the competitions away from Fistral beach. At 8am the event crews, trucks, surfers, judges and jet skis made the short trip to the more sheltered Towan Beach in Newquay town centre. Towan provided solid 5ft waves, strong off shore winds and thanks to the Sealife centre a warm and dry beach side event base.
