New music needed

Postby jethrodog » Wed Apr 04, 2007 12:10 am

Hey everyone.

I have been looking for some new music to listen to, I am bored with most of what I have. And everytime I hear about a band on this forum I check them out and love them. The latest is Muse. So I am hoping you all can suggest some new aural satisfaction   for me to check out.

The latest music I have been listening to:
Tool
Chevelle
Modest Mouse
Muse
Chemical Brothers
Black Stone Cherry
Radiohead

You brits (can I call you that or is it non-PC?) always have sweet tunes that we never hear over here, especially the rave/techno/electronica. So LOAD ME UP!!

Thanks all.

Sweet!

Leftfield-Leftism is an awesome album.
Jay EII- 4am sound of progressive trance.
Sounds of the detonator Vol 1 (careful theres some old skool gaba techno on this one but also some wicked mixing in places)

Didn't spot any prodigy on your list and also beachlife vol 1 is a really cool compilation.

Here's a few i like, i've put them in a chilled (top) to heavier (bottom) depending on your mood. Some you may have heard of some you might not. Oh and there are some oldies in there for good measure too

Hal
Athlete
The Doves
Kings of Leon
Pulp
Arcade Fire
Blur
The Strokes
Kaiser Chiefs
Graham Coxon
The Klaxons
Dogs

Hybrid

I'm a massive Graham Coxon fan so start with him maybe, especially the last 2 albums but he can be a bit punky so be warned. Hybrid are the only dance band there but they are great! If you ever get to see them live or doing a DJ set do it!

Do you ever listen to Xfm over the web?

Its the 'alternative' (although not very alternative any more) station over here that plays the kind of stuff you're listening to, and you'll hear LOADS of new stuff that you wont get in the states. If you dont like what you hear the first time, then try again on a different slot as it varies - friday night, for instance does a hard rock show, while sunday night is a remix dance night, but there's a lot of stuff in between.

Also try Pandora. com, put in the song/artist you like and it recommends similar sounding stuff.

Dude, listen to Alabama 3....they are called 'A3' in america because of some legal issue with a band called 'Alabama'...who are definitley not the same thing.

No man, I haven't, i'll have a listen...hang on.....

They sound ok but from their myspace page.

Have you heard of red snapper, I saw them years ago when they supported the prodigy.... unfortunatley they're not together anymore, but check out the 'making bones' album. 8)
