Goofy footed surfers rule!

Postby surf patrol » Wed Jan 07, 2004 2:01 am

I don't know if they are a minority or not, never really thought about it. I am a goofy footer so they certainly are not a minority on this post!

I am a goofy foot surfer too, just to add my name to the list!!!!!

Im pretty sure that there are less goofy surfers. When i played competitive football, and when i was young and in all the junior teams there was always a majority of right-footed players, just like there are more right handed people.

I think if you are right footed you surf normally,....
And if you are left footed you surf goofy,...

Think about it, kick an imaginary football and see what foot you naturally kick with. If you can be bothered that is, i mean this isn't the MOST interesting topic in the world, really is it.

Surfers are surfers, y'know i dont reckon it should be goofy, more like:

'Do you ride normal? or "superior"?!'

Lol,

That screws my idea

Postby Duncs » Wed Jan 07, 2004 5:11 pm

Either that or my theory had no REAL sense in it at all!!!

It don't really matter which way you ride, except for maybe freaky_welsh_chick cos she endures the embarassment of tripping on her leash so she can ride fakey!!!

Ha!!

I quote:

A very informative surfin website wrote:Goofy Foot? Put your best foot forward—find out whether you are regular or goofy-footed! Try sliding across a smooth floor with socks on. If you lead with your left foot, you’re “regular,” and the left foot goes near the front of the board when you’re surfing. If your right foot goes first, you’re “goofy,” and the right foot goes up front!

You see it's all to do with which foot we are most comfortable with,...i think the foot you lead with when walking is your weaker foot. Thus meaning it goes at the front of the board, the stronger foot goes at the back of the board. This would make sense, as turning the board and stability has a lot to do with the back foot, well more to do with that one.

If you think about it imagine when you turn the board that it is pivoting on a point [a simplistic model i know]. Where would u put that point? Directly under your rear foot,.....its not gonna pivot at the front is it!!!!! Therefore more control = better foot on pivotish point.

What i wanna know is what happens to antidextrous foot people. Do they get dilemna's as they pop up?! Which way today.....

I still can't figure out which is which I'm confused I have asked everyone in my house which is my whole family and about 4 of my bros friends and I have confused everyone!!.. so do goofy footers put their left or right foot at the back?
I'm left handed and I'd automaticly kick with my left foot does this make me goofy?
Ok i'm confused hehehe!
yay my cast comes of in 5 days!! if I broke my right foot when surfing does this mean anything about goofy or natural ? ok I will go now b4 I confuse everyone

if you kick with your left foot, you are probably goofy, which is with your left foot back and right foot forwards :)

Lefthanded, goofeyfooted ???

Postby surf patrol » Sat Jan 17, 2004 2:20 am

I am not so sure that whatever-handed you are has any relation to whether you are goofy or natural, of course everyone knows that goofy footers are superior, as are those who are left handed - so maybe it thats the key!

Who ever thought this topic could be so popular!
anyway yes left handers are superior^_^ hehehe
and heres sumthing for you all to think about.

*IF THe left side of your brain controls the right side of your body and the right side controls the left..............
then left handed people are the only ones in their right minds
