ABSOLUTE RETARD

Postby jennie » Fri May 26, 2006 1:16 pm

just got a new board delievered today, its a beauty of a board, second hand so had a few dings but....as the guy gets it our of his van, he goes "so what the fleshin' is it anyway?" and chucks it nose first onto the road!

i was standing there in shock as my board bounced off the road! I got it inside and assessed the damage....the nose has pretty much broken off...its not all the way off but its going to need a serious repair job or i just bin the whole board.

Does any one know whats the best way to repair it or if it might as well be chucked away? Its not totally broken off and im not sure if the stringer is broken.

Any help would be great

What the f**k!!!!!

You should have taken it up with the bloke who delivered it!!!

I would phone the delivery company to complain that they've damaged the board and threaten them with legal action if they dont recompense you for the cost of repairs.

I'd do it sooner rather than later or you'll lose any chance of getting anything.

That is truly anoying, as you've said RETARD! If you could post up a photo of the damage then perhaps we can suggest a good way to repair it.

What a fleshin' twat.
I hope you'll be on the phone getting the courier company to pay for it?

Anyway - the good news is that a broken nose isnt necessarily terminal for a board. You could fix it yourself, but I'd give it to a shaper and let them handle it as they'll do a much more professional job for not a huge amount of money. You're probably looking at about 30 - 50 pounds.

You're in London arent you? I dont know of a single board repair place nearby - Ive always used Second Skin in Braunton. They pass it along to a shaper who does the job cash-in-hand. It'll take a couple of weeks probably.

I have been on to the company but just get a load of recorded menu messages...i have spoken to someone who said they cant do anything about it until they speak to the driver.

Here is a pic of the damage.

That looks repairable.......I snapped my nose in a spectacular wipeout where I somehow managed to lodge the nose of my board up my jacksie. Couldnt walk properly for a few days! But the board was fine after repairs!

Keep on phoning the company and dont let it go. Make out you've saved for a long time for this, and they've shattered your dreams and spoiled your bank holiday.....lay it on thick so it makes it hard for them to refuse compensation!

That's repairable - no problem :D

Take it to an experienced shaper and they'll soon have it looking like new. Might as well get the dings fixed at the same time!

Whats the board like? (Other than the broken bits...)

It is definately repairable and good luck with chasing the delivery people. Who were they so i can make sure i avoid using them. Muppets.
Pat, at least it was your jacksie and not your japseye. Opps sorry couldn't resist.

If you could get the board down to southampton i could fix that up for you.
Let me know.

yer im not going to make it easy for the company to just look over this.

The board itself is really nice, it has a few dings but they have been repaired really well apart from the one on the nose and the nose itself. Other damage that i think has been done in transit are like these glass cracks, there are a few hair line cracks that run along the middle of the board, but i think they are simple enough to repair.

Drowningbitbybit how much do you reckon it will cost to get repaired by second skin? i bought one of my other boards from there but have never got anything repaired by them.

Kitesurfer i might have to take you up on that offer!

It's always good to contact the company in writing as well as over the phone. Send them a certified letter (one that has to be signed for, and you get sent back something that verifies that the letter was recieved). If they don't respond within a couple of weeks, then you may want to contact a lawyer, or send another letter with a threat to sue.

Unfortunately peeps i deal with this every stinking day :( .. unless you signed for it as "un-checked" or "damaged" then chances are they magically wont be able to find which driver delivered and probably wont back up any claim unless the driver does the decent thing and owns up to it ...

This is what works for me when i dont get time to check all deliveries before the drivers sod off and we find damages...

" i am a forum moderator for several global websites and unless you want your companies name dragged through the mud and a minimum of 100,000 people perday notified of how shite your courier firm is then get my claim sorted out" .
Speak with authority but diplomatically and usually the chimps sort it out

3years ago i was threatened with a court appearance for err.. a small incident with a TNT driver .. the delivery went like this .. " alright mate, got some more stuff for your druggies".. as he blatantly threw a box of lamps form one end of the truck out the back and into the road  .. it all got a bit loud from there on in heheheee

Thats ridiculous, I would have been yelling my head off at the guy if he had done that! Dont give up complaining , keep moaning about it. Its not right for deliverers to do that.

What a f**king retard!

Give 'em hell! Threaten to take them to court. My best advice would be get a letter written by a shaper saying it's not repairable and re-coup the ENTIRE cost of the board.

Then let Kitesurfer fix it for you~! :)
