Surfwax questions

Postby S2000 » Sun Jul 24, 2005 12:33 am

The last few weeks the water has really gotten warm so I stopped using my spring suit and I keep getting wax in my leg and chest hair and all over my board shorts. Is there any easy way to get it out besides scrubbing with soap and water? How about out of board shorts?

Also, I noticed my nipples get sensitive\painful from my wax after my sessions. Do certain surf waxes gives you guys rash while others dont?

Can I put it right over my palmers cool water wax or should I strip it off? The wax is a little under a month old. Should I buy warm water wax? (temp is currently 70-75)

you can try putting it over but I doubt it'll stick, it's harder stuff, you could try combing it and then putting warm on, but thats what I've been using now with the water around 68, just more comfortable when you're wearing boardies.

so I duno it's not like the end of the world if it doesen't work, try putting it over and if it doesen't work, try something else.

Puting hard warmer water wax over soft cold water wax does not work. It slides right off the top.
Always use tropic wax (in moderate climes) or warm wax(in colder climes). Over the this thin base coat of wax that's warmer than you actually need for your water temp you can put whatever top coat you like.

Actually, I've only just started doing this two-layer thing myself after many years of one-coat happiness, two layers creates small hard bumps underneath and a softer gripable layer over the top, and it lasts way longer with less lumpy buildup.

Try it.

I just chuck my boardies into the normal wash cycle (40 degrees C) and they come out wax free. :D

i wear a rash guard that i love, keeps the wax off my chest, gives me better grip on the board, and keeps off the sun if you get a UV one.
