How small does a board have to be to duck dive. I'm getting a custom made board & wondering if i'd be able to duck dive with a 7'2 fatboy
I heard a pointed nose makes it easier, should i ask for one?

A pointed nose reduces the volume, and so makes a duckdive easier... but also makes it harder to surf.

At 7'2, you'll struggle to duckdive to be honest. Not impossible, but it'll take a lot of practise. But it wont be worth changing the shape of the board, because only the skinniest 7'2 would be easy to duckdive.

Hmm.. the lowest i can go is 7'0, would that make any difference?

If not should i be turtle rolling?

Not a lot.
If a board is easy to duckdive, it will be difficult to surf for a beginner. And you're quite a long way from when you'll need to 'properly' duckdive anyway, so I wouldnt worry about it just yet.

Easiest way is to learn the spots and conditions that allow you to paddle out without needing to duck or roll.

after surfing loads of small shortboards i went on a (6'6 18+3/4 and 2+3/8) and found it quite hard to duck dive, so i couldn't imagine duckdiving anything bigger...atleast for a while
