Hi

I am 15 years old and started surfing last year. After having gone out a number of times im really enjoying it and want to get my own board. I need some advice tho please! I am about 5'6/7" and enjoy sailing, kayaking, mountain biking and surfing, so am very active and fit.
I am just looking for a board I can mess around on but won't be too expensive OR too rubbish! I don't really need to know particular brand or board names, but just:
1. approx board length
2. approx board width
3. best board material

Thanks for your help! :D [/b]

Ok you are perfect for a bic board they are inexpensive and un dingable because of the material its made off fiberglass on the inside like a regular board and plastic on the out side so its perfect dont worry it is a real boar just made dif i learned on a bic 6' 7'' but i was five feet tall they are the most popular beginner board u should get a board 1 foot over your head fairly thick and wide i recamend a Length
7'3''

Max. Width
21''1/4

Max. Thickness
2''1/2

Construction
ACS

Fin set-up
Fin-Loc®, Thruster

Shaper
Gerard Dabbadie
thats a short longboard to u that is a long shortboard
it wont be two difficult to learn on but if u want a long board i suggest Length
7'9''

Max. Width
22''

Max. Thickness
2''5/8

Construction
ACS

Fin set-up
Fin-Loc®, Thruster

Shaper
Gerard Dabbadie

those are the only 2 boards i would recamend to u if u still think there fake this is what there made of .......................................................The construction of the ACS line starts with an extremely durable polyethylene shell that is then filled with polyurethane foam. This is the same foam used in standard surfboard construction. To ensure that the finished surfboard is an exact reproduction of the original proven shape, the entire procedure takes place in a mould that maintains the shape of the board. The result is a virtually ding-proof surfboard that makes it easy for a wide range of people to experience the thrill of surfing. .... make sure u get the acs ones not the cts well that should help ...... surf mellow

Do you have a lot of time on your hands jake? I'm always impressed by the guys who seem to answer all these questions....and with immense detail too. I barely have time to sit and read through the majority of them nevermind try and answer them all. Not that I'd be of much help as I'm still startin out myself. Glad there are people out there willing though or else we'd all be wandering what the answers to our silly, supposedly irrelevant questions were. :D

Can i surf in Norfolk Virginia?

Postby cre8 » Fri Jul 23, 2004 6:35 am

Jake,

I'm pretty sure you are from the east coast of the U.S., and I was wondering about when the best time to surf the ATL coast was...Also, what is the best way (besides staying out of the way), to deal with localism in places like hawaii and australia?

Thanks for any advice,
T

Hi guys, sorry jake for butting in!
I live in the Canary Islands where localism is supposed to be harsh (I ve never had it bad but have heard lots of stories) I ve also spent 6 months surfing Australias Esat coast with no problems.
If you go out at a new spot simply be cool. Do not paddle straight to the peak or get in anyones way but don't let them take the piss either. When you go out don't have an intense look of anger or fear, if anyone makes eye contact a nod of the head is usually a good sign of respect. That last word was the most important RESPECT is key, as long as you show it you should not have any problems. Of course there is alway that one kook who has a small complex about his manhood or something, if it starts to look bad paddle in and tray another day or spot.

Peace

Ozzie.

the best time is in the fall and towards winter......the best way to deal with it is to ignore it cuz if you dont its gonna get to you.....also you have to be confident like ozzie said even if they dont respect you you should respect the locals

Ok Jake, 2 questions.

Firstly, how old are you?

secondly, Would Lazarus have had a bad attitude after having died and gone to heaven, only to be called back to earth to have to die all over again?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Jake. I posted a reply (which contained a question really) to BlueAzure's nosedive problem. Please read it and give me some advice. I wrote that reply before I read your solution to BlueAzure's problem - so you have answered my question, but please tell me more.

Also, on a bigger wave, and at the moment when you are right on the top and looking down over the waterfall, and also it is at this point that you need to either commit and go over the falls or chicken out and back off - what in your experience are the nasty things that can happen if you play hero and really went over the falls ? (I enjoy surfing - but I am a Dad with a young family and I dont want to become paralysed)

Has he not answered my question? Jake, please, I need to know. And while your at it: humanity is making a great scientific effort to prove the origin of the universe but what happens if you die trying to prove these things?

Please answer, you know everything.

Cheers mate.
