Advice Needed On Some Moves

Postby bberg516 » Fri Jun 29, 2007 1:09 am

Hey I posted about a month ago asking how to keep speed and go with the wave and Ive gotten it to the point now were I can do it on almost every wave I catch and feel comfortable doing it. Now I was wondering if anyone here could give me some advice on how to do cutbacks and shoot spray(hacks snaps etc).

I tried a cutback today but when I leaned back I kinda just fell back hah. I was thinking I need to do it at the top of the wave? Anything people could give me for advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks A Ton!!!

When you cutback the sharpness of the turn causes a reduction in speed. The best thing to do is to turn into the wave, and try and gain speed dropping down the face of the wave, like during your take off. Maintaining your balance during the cutback manuever will come to you with experience, but try not to emphasize the lean on the cutback, try to keep it relatively moderate. This will also help you to increase your speed. Keep the stoke and keep on surfin!
