can a regular t-shirt be used as a rash guard or is there something special about actual rashguard's material?

a rashgaurd is usually uv protected.Helps keep sun away better.Wont fade in water.Is lightweight.A t-shirt is heavy when wet and will probley slide up.Rashgaurds stick to you.
