Too old?

I'm an ex skater/snowboarder and have always wanted to get into surfing....i dont know if ive missed the boat...

Im 33 not the fittest but won't take me long to get into shape...am i too old to start?

What ages were you guys?

For the older peeps - Did you find the fitness thing a problem?

Im down the gym 3 times a week but did you find that the best thing for it was surfing itself?

I am 41 and still going strong. I have a friend who is 72 and surfs with me regularly. Too old come on. I plan to be surfing when I am 85

newbie, ex-skater, i can understand, but how can you be an ex-snowboarder? the hardest part about snowboarding is learning how to do it, once you can ride, you should be able to do it forever. same with surfing, just stay at it, and once you learn, never stop, because if you do stop its harder to get back into it

I started at 34! An unfit lump of 34 too.

No way are you too old. Just dont go fro a shortboard...

Dont think about buying just yet - go with a couple of lessons on a rental board. If you're not all that fit, then 7' will be too short for you (assuming you're a normal size grown up) :wink:

Try it out, then think about getting a board. And look here

Dont assume 'cos you can skate etc that you'll be any better than another beginner - the standing/surfing/turning part is quite a long way down the line! You've got paddling, catching waves, popping up etc etc to get through yet!

As for being too old. Pah. Get in there :wink:
