Short Boards---Help Please

Alright I have a few questions, I ride a

NEV 7'6 Pointy Nosed (Used)
21 1/2 x 2 3/4
Round Square Tail

I can stand if I focus, but I was wondering can I surf on 6'2 or 6'10 around the 6 range?I'm

5'3
120 lbs

Also is my board considered a short board?
When will I be ready for a short board?
Does wave size count when shortboarding?

I am not sure if you'll be able to ride a 6 footer with ease, but if you train enoght you'll do it.

The wave size does matter a lot. Bigger boards catch small waves much easyer, so if you are riding very small waves it could be even impossible to ride a shortbard. If you are riding waves 3 foot or larger then it should be ok if your shortboard is wide and thick.

if you got a 9 foot foamie woud ride the whitewater without even paddling...

just think with a shortboard things will be much harder, but with enought practice you can do it. It could get frustrating, but you could even start with a shortboard.

the waves around here never get too big till around august. im pretty happy with 7'6 though, it holds up pretty well. It's my first board so im gettin kinda attached lol. I want to go shorter when im better though
