Should I bother trying to surf on this board?

Postby Lauz45 » Sat Feb 10, 2007 5:00 pm

My mum picked up a really cheap board for me to use - trouble is i'm quite a beginner, well i've had a few lessons, can pop up and ride in rental boards and have started to turn a bit.

This board is only 6'2, 20" wide and about 2" thick, but i'm only 5'2 myself (and a smallish girl) so shall I just take it out and have a go or am I doomed to failure?! It was quite dinged up but i've filled in all the cracks with a proper repair kit and sanded it off so it should be watertight now, i'll get myself a decent board when i'm better :)

Thanks!

What else are you going to do but try it out?

You'll be fine if its a good foot past your head. :)

Sounds like a great board for your size. Nice, and wide too. By the time you get good on it, you'll be ready for a better board.

Oh yeah...... good on ya for fixing your board yourself.

Sounds like your half way there already. Just try not to be too hard on yourself if your not progressing as quickly as you think you should. The main thing you should be thinking about is just having fun.

Seems like it could be a good board for you.

Just curious - what kind of shape is it? Does it have a standard shortboard outline, or is it more like a fish (or is it a fish)?

Words of wisdom there :) Take it slow and have fun learning! And as everyone else has said that board seems decent for somebody your size so get out there and have fun :)
