Surfboard Help!!!

Alright, so I'm 15, 6'1 and weigh about 175 lbs. I live in Sarasota, Florida. So the waves aren't usally very big, but seem to be getting bigger in the Venice (the jettys). So I really want to get into surfing because I love the beach, and the water, what size board would be good for me? And whats shape (links possibly). I wouldn't want to spend that much money either.. Look around on this site ( ), like the first three post that are bolded that tell you exactly what you need, but since you didn't feel like looking here it is: you would be happiest with a funboard, 7'4"x <20 x 2.5-3, roundtail square tail, whatever.


Just letting you know, if you want to be successful in surfing, you're gonna need to demonstrate more patience and some work.

im about the same bro and i got a NSP like 7 6 board its easy to start with and the waves aint xxxxx in jearsey lol if u really wana figure it out i guess you could rent boards from a shop for a while to you find one your confortiable with

I would say a bigger board like 7'2-8', but more of a big guy shortboard with some extra foam in the rails for floatation and catching waves when it is small....When it cranks you have a good boar too!!!
