Hi,

i feel comfortable catching waves. But everytime I catch one, I get launched forward so fast that by the time I get to my feet, I dont have time to get back to the face of the wave; instead i am already in the white water.

what am i doing wrong???
Before i pop up, Should I try to stall my board????
Late take-off????

Please help

Thank you all

Try traking off at a angle so your already part turned to the direction you want to go.
Also as you said try not to push too far into the way, get the pop as quick as possible and kick out the tail to turn imideatly.

you need to be up on your feet whilst going down the face of the wave, then take the bottom turn at the end.

As soon as you feel youve caught the wave pop.

This does lead to more frustration however as you start popping before youve caught the wave. So many times ive been one hand stroke away.
In that situation quickly move you weight forward this can help but does not always work.
