what do you lot reckon is the minimum wave size that it is possable to surf in.I just started a few days ago on my holidays but the waves were really small is this a passible excuse for my poor surfing.(i didnt stand up)

Ha ha! Good question.
Its perfectly possible to surf (on the right board) a 1ft wave. Where were you surfing and on what kind of board?

Its easyer to stand if your moving faster, but dont expect to be poping up like the pro's just yet. It takes a little time and practice.
You could probably surf 2 - 3 ft waves on a long or foam board.

1.5 foot waves are very surfable on a shortboard as long as theyre clean and have a bit of oomph to them, maybe even smaller. on a longboard you could even ride smaller waves and if you count riding the foam of broken waves you could ride ankle high waves (and some do) cant see the attraction myself.

try surfing a wave about the size of your leg i think their just about big enough for everyone begginers or better just to practice.

What are you using now as a board? If a long board anything from a knee to waist high is great to learn on.

Shoulder high. Anything less and it is difficult to paddle into..and difficult to pull manovers.
For begginers waist high is probably best.

geez, I'm the opposite: when it gets around shoulder high, I cant get out back. Anything smaller and I'm sweet.
