Could I progress to a shortboard?

Iv been surfing for a year now,and can stand up indefinately now.And i'm starting to manouvre a bit more than i used to be able to. At the moment i'm surfing on a 7,3". But I thought that maybe surfing on a smaller board it would be easier to manourve, and would make duck-diving under the waves a whole lot easier. Than trying to duck dive with my minimal which is not a good idea. .
Could I have some idea's please of what you thik I should do?
thanks :)

you can, but you might have problems standing up. I had a 7 foot when I first learned and switched to a 6'2 nature shapes that I still ride. When you first switch the paddling it a LOT harder and getitng up is pretty much the same but the board is mroe sensitive. Go out and borrow a shorter board like 6'4 or get a used/new board goodluck.

You'll be fine on the 6'7". It will take a while to get used to of course.

Their tidy boards, they do the job and are pretty cheap.
Dont pay more than £250 as in the shop in braunton their was a big sign saying all boards £250!
As long as you get the right dimensions for your size/weight/ability then your laughing.
Ive also heard HARMERGEDON boards are pretty good as well and would be about the same price :D
