Surfing Waves

As most of ya probs know from my last subject, I just recieved a crappy 73' foam board which slips like hell, givin me trouble to paddle and even more for foot grip durin pop ups. Now I have new trouble. The surfboard is too light and floats easily that itz costing me time just trying to put all my weight to get the damn board underwater before the waves washd me ashore (Happened too many times to me yesterday). Is there anything I can do to improve my duck diving with the damn board?

Umm depending on your strength you may struggle to duckdive a 7'3 fibreglass board but trying to duckdive a foam board is....ummm...not going to be very productive (*impossible*).

Just paddle through the waves.

agree with libs, just aim into the whitewash and paddle like mofo . Just as it hits you lie as close as you can to the board and it should just wash over you.

I can only *just* begin to duck my 7ft4, and thats not a foam board. if you can though, i'd ditch the board youve got and go for something a bit better thats going to help you improve. If you can, Id get a bic - theyre ace to learn on and dont break!

It's all just the struggles of the beginner...

You get a board that's 7 foot somthing to 8 foot something. Any smaller and it's too difficult to pop-up, balance or even paddle. Any bigger and it's too difficult to turn and manuever the board.
The problem is that it's too big to duck dive and doesn't have quite the paddling power of a longboard.

i have found the answer to all the worlds duckdiving problems. buy a board thats bearly big enough to float you

aaah the tricky business of duck diving, i have had boards like this in the past and know how frustrated you must feel. Basically I dont think you're going to be able to duck dive a board of that size, unless you're hulk! Try eskimo rolling or just abandon the board and swim under the wave BUT MAKE SURE NO ONES BEHIND YOU!! Alternatively you could just save some cash and get a different board.xx
