Surfing Waves

I have a question on how to avoid getting sand on to the wax of my surfboard? I have a 7"4 funboard and I flip it over on the sand to prevent the wax melting but then sand gets on my wax and I see others do the same thing and nothing appears on theirs!! . I was wondering how I should lay my board when I'm on the beach watching the sets and just hanging out?

If theres sand dunes then GENTLY put your board on the grass, but be careful not to trample or damage the dunes, if they are protected then obviously dont do this!

Other than that just make sure the board and wax are cold (fresh out the water) when you turn it over and maybe drape a towel over it to stop it getting too warm.

If its any consolation it happens to me too, so its not just you

sand on my wax usually doesn't bother me, so I just turn my board upside down, but my cousin usually puts a towel on top of his board to stop the wax from melting instead of turning it upside down.

lie on your board - thats what i do

Kick up a little mound of sand and rest the nose of your board on top of the sand pile.

Simple really

it doesnt matter realy, it adds a little more grip if anything, dont worry about it, just rewax your board everyfew weeks

It doesn't add more grip at all. It takes the grip away and can make it harder on those areas to regain grip.
Sand and dirt will get on your board every now and then, you just gotta make sure you give it a good hose down when you finish surfing. Give it a nice clean every now and then and all should be fine.

Ya I didn't try making the mount of sand. It sounds so simple and I cant believe I didn't try to do that lol . I would usually try to dig a trench underneith my board so the sand woudn't get stuck to it but it would anyway.

take all the wax off with a wax comb and re-wax it from scratch. You need harder wax now in the summer anyway so get that soft winter stuff off and itll pick up less sand/grit.
