Quick question... I ride regular foot and prefer taking rights. However, when I drop into a left, should I switch to goofy? It feems so unatural riding a left regular footed.

If you can switch to goofy on a left, I'd do that!!!....
I'm goofy and I feel awkward surfing rights, but I suppose it's all about practising until it feels good and natural whether you surf frrontside or backside 8)
I need lots of practice :D

i'm regular & hate rights -- i can carve lefts up and look like i know what i'm doing - rights i look like a kook.

It's just what you feel comfortable.

No, you shouldnt switch. You need to be able to surf forehand and backhand.

Lots of natural footies find lefts much harder than rights. Me, Im a regular, and I prefer lefts....

Wow...............I took it for granted if youre natural, you would prefer rights! Likewise goofy preferring lefts!

I would love to be able to switch from goofy on a left to natural on a right :D

I think, for me at least, I find it easier to weight the rails through the heels rather than the toes, and turning to see where the wave is going forces my shoulders into the right position.

Something like that anyway....

Coupla weeks ago on the south coast, the swell and wind combined to make everything break left (unusually for the spot) and I was getting wave after wave after wave, as almost everyone else was fluffing the take off :D

then the wave of the day came which was big enough to hold its shape and break right, and inevitably it was me that fluffed the take-off and pearled head first into the drink

i posted a somewhat similar thread on the forum a few weeks ago, and yes, im a regular who finds backside turns easier than frontsides

frontside is easier for most people, mainly cos the wave is in front of where your head normally points so its easier to see where your going. But you need to learn to surf backhand too, taking off on very steep backhand waves is one of the best feeling in surfing (imho). And if you dont practice lefts youll never surf pipe :o
