Hi Everyone.
I have heard a lot about surfboards and surfboarding, I am just wondering if anyone could help me out in teaching what are the basics of surfboarding. Are surfboards good for beginners? The main query I have regarding surfboards is that how are they different from longboards and skateboards.
Thanks Everyone.
Anxiously Waiting for your Guidance.

Let‘s start gently, What you are talking about is called surfing not surfboarding, easily fixed, the longboarding and skateboarding are sports/ pastimes that require a skateboard or long skate board and a hill an empty swimming pool a skate park, some sort of land based surface to skate on.
Surfing requires an aquatic environment , primarily oceans and then man made wave pools, and standing waves in rivers.
Major and vital necessity = waves, then you have surf boards, body boards, paipos surf mats, surfboards can short or long between 5 foot and 10 foot ( the longer sizes are known as long boards well before long skate boards) a reasonably normal range.
If there are waves you can also body surf where you catch waves by swimming onto them.

So basic difference you use surfboards in water on waves and all skateboards on land.

Explained as I expected. One last question, as I am addicted to longboarding as well and want to buy a fresh piece as well. So is it possible to ride both (surfboard and longboard ) at once without the fear of mixing up the things?
Do me a favor, which one of the longboards is the latest according to your experience and what surfboard should I opt as a newbie?

Your height weight and age and where you are going to surf determines what sort of board is suitable!
If there is a nearby surf school or a surfboard hire place try before you buy is a good option.

A reasonable starting board is a longer soft board , and learning thebasics

You might not know yet, but there is "longboarding" for the Skating world and "longboarding" for the Surfing world.

I worked at a shop near a college campus in Hawaii.
Me- Can I help you ?
Customer - "Yes, I'm looking for a longboard".
Show them to the 9 foot plus length surfboards.
Customer - "Uuhh No, the ones I can use to get around from class to class".
Me - Oh sorry, I thought you meant Longboard surfboard.

A longboard surfboard takes a lot more upper body strength.
If you get tired skating, you can just stop and sit on the curb. You can't do that in the ocean.

From what I gather, you are already a "addicted" LONGBOARD skateboarder and wanted to know the difference in surfing versus skateboarding.

Shouldn't you be searching reviews for suitable sizes for beginner longboard SURFboards instead of suitable sizes for beginner longboard SKATEboards ?

I really dislike when you do a grind on your longboard surfboard, the 2+1 set of fins are obliterated on the kerb edge.
The leash getting caught around a fire hydrant stops you pretty quickly!
The reverse is true too, when you take your skateboard into the surf, the bearings and the trucks get stuck with rust and it’s the ply deck is not well sealed it delaminates, nasty happenings

Brother, how do you differentiate ABEC-7 bearings from ABEC-9 bearings? Which one among these is the best choice and what is their own importance? Are bearings the most crucial components inside wheels, and are they responsible for longboard movement? As per my best understanding, there are various styles in longboarding and I believe in surfing as well. So, a rider requires a different set of bearings with a different riding style? In short, speed aside, what else are the uses of bearings in the longboards.

One more thing, if bearings need to be different then the same law will be applied for the rest of gadgets like wheels, trucks, deck, etc.?
If that's the case, it will become too much hesitating for someone who knows nothing about the longboards right?

a note to Craig, you really need to understand this is a forum about surfing not skateboarding!!
Advertising skateboard online shops and equipment is not allowed and you will get more responses on a skateboard forum.
If you want to learn about surfing then stop the skateboard stuff and head to the beach, the discussion is about SURFING get it, got it , you choose!
