The flick out and the reverse flick out are an ancient manouvre of the longboard tribe, they have been rendered extinct by the leash.
The flick out involve immediate and rapiid body torque at a bottom turn and then driving and flicking and pushing the board up through the closing out lip and high and then landingthe board behind the wave, you surface after being smacked by the falling wave face and swim to your board, good timing is needed , and can give the rider enough time tomsubmerge and go through the wave.
Bad timing sees two things, your board doesn‘t penetrate or go above the lip and is hurled shoreward, it may also be hurled straight back at your face, just before you get smacked by the lip. Surfers at theback of the wave are subjected to aerial bombardment of flicked out boards.
nasty behaviours also encompassed flick outs at drop ins , cruise missile style.
Flickouts also died with the early leashes which were made with surgical rubber tubing, they were often tied through a hole drilled into the fin, this guaranteed that at whatever speed you flicked out at , the upside down fin exposed board was hurtling back at you at the same speed!
Leashes also had a finite stretch meaning they could not get enough distance to clear the wave, elastic lip launch return.
The reverse flick out was a severe twist flick out using body torque on you back hand.

I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷
