When do you plan to surf there? Wind is wrong at the moment; if you catch a dawn patrol on a calm day then it can be ok but for the most part the west this time of year is the best.
Lots of localism in Sanur. There are more than a few locals that take tourists out and "guide" them on those breaks. This means they go out and block and otherwise intimidate the lineup into letting their guests have their pick of waves. Other locals and longtime residents surf around them but they will come down hard on other tourists....one guy posted a year ago the nose of the board he was riding got punched off when he didn't give way.
Hyatt Reef is a boat accessible break that the captain will double as a guide. Pay the small fee for the boat taxi ride and you'll have the break to yourself this time of year. Not giving away any secrets, surfing this time of year on that side of the island is poor. Better off packing the car and heading to Canggu, Legian strip, Kuta, Airports right and left and Bukit surf spots. Again, no secret and you will not be alone.

Thanks for your reply Big H we have just arrived and will be staying till mid December.
Is turtle island workable at the moment ?
Also I am looking for a second hand board somewhere around 7.4 ft about am in sure if that would be to big to carry on a scooter.
Many thanks Jason

I carry a 10'4" on my scooter sometimes....its still ok but I'm probably better riding in traffic than you are. 7'4" should be ok, just make sure you have full range of movement of the handlebars before you start off....I put longer boards in tail first for this reason.
Turtle Island, AKA Serangan is no longer reachable by road. You can take a boat but that's not the easiest either and to be fair the break isn't good enough to bother with taking a boat there.

Once again thank you very much for taking the time to respond much appreciated.
I’m gutted to hear turtle island is gone it was one of the main reasons we decided to stay on this part of the island,as I had surfed there last year and was comfortable with the idea of surfing there alone
Thanks again jason

Last bit; do not surf the stretch from Seminyak to Kuta alone. Strong rips and currents lace the area and often there is no one you could call on in the event of an accident.
