Problems catching left waves, help

Postby avillax » Sat Nov 11, 2017 10:36 pm

Everytime I try to catch a left, I feel as if my brain freezes or something but I just can't find the balance or position to ride it correctly from the top, I usually have to wait until I reach the bottom to stand up and so I lose speed and shape and everything.

My rights are doing great, I do a lot of cutouts as a norm but the left side is super lame. Any advice on how to take left waves? Or videos?

Before you popup to your feet, set the inside rail with your hands, just push down with your left hand. Maybe first do a few prone runs to get the feeling down, later it becomes natural.

If you are a regular footer then it's likely you just need to spend more time going left. Regular footers who learn to surf on lefts have trouble going right. I learned to go left by accident. I dropped down waves intending to go right but made mistakes and ended up going left. I was taking off on the peak of waves that broke both right and left but didn't go left because I preferred right. It' another skill you have to learn. Spend as much time going left as right
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.
