Postby CUSHEN » Fri Jul 29, 2005 3:20 am

Hi im only learning to surf, its going grand but i have a few questionsI need help about nosediving. What do i need to do to prevent it from happening? Also when i've caught a wave and i'm on it before it breaks, i keep wiping out when i try to go along the wave from nosediving. Do i just need more practise? Thanks

Hi there

There have been a couple of posts about this recently.

It may be that you are too far forward when you catch waves. You can only find out where you should be positioned on your board by practising, but a good rule of thumb is your face being above the logo on the deck.

Push up with your hands by the sides of your chest and STAY LOW.

If you get up too quickly your centre of balance is higher and it's more difficult to control.

Cheers

if your on big waves with a big board and go straight down the face while the wave is breaking, your nose will go down at the angle your tail is falling down the breaking crest.therefore, your screwed. farther back in the board and the waves.
