Softboard or Epoxy?

Postby juju72 » Thu Jul 13, 2017 7:14 pm

Going to Portugal for surfing in a few weeks but still not sure which board to rent: As I am a beginner with only 3 days surfing should I still stick to a foamie or should i go for a 8ft epoxy board?

Personally I find softboard sluggish and hard to paddle. But if you're new and it is a crowded break, you should rent a foamie as you're less likely to injure yourself and others.

Typically you can always change that, even during the same day. Maybe use a Softboard for warmup and then go for a hardboad. Does not necessarily means epoxy tough. Many shops rent out BICs, which are tough and still a stepup from regular softboards.
