begginer east coast, where to start

Posted: Wed Mar 31, 2004 8:19 amI hired a board from a surf shop in Melbourne beach, the locals seemed to be friendly enough.
I was chatting to some of them - they were surprised to see a british surfer out there!
That whole stretch of coast gets good waves and has plenty of places to rent boards/ have lessons.
