Stall turns, cross step, staying with the pocket, and most smooth as silk

Imagine being able to learn (then surf) those waves. So nice and easy.

Not that I could do anything like what is being done.

That's my friend Arthur Achinges aka "Toots". He's surfing at Queens. He shapes his own boards. Hands down the best noserider in Waikiki.

Check out the sit-down butt ride at 1:47. Even when you see it in person, it's hard to believe. Next time you having trouble just getting to the nose, get some inspiration from this.

He's to my right with the 2nd place trophy. Judges don't score his Classical style as much as for Progressive maneuvers in most contest in Waikiki. But he is easily the best noserider surfer at Queens.

He makes it look so effortless. So classy. Wish I can get even a tenth of that in my lifetime...

BTW, wkkkchan, are you saying you surfed progressively and came in 1st with a cast on your leg?

No, the photo is during the Hawaiian Noseriding Championships. So no judging of style, just stop-watched amount of time on the nose.
Big difference in Free surfing and Contest surfing sometimes. I like that Toots surfs the way he wants to ( and not what the judges want ). When it comes to style, he's the Man.
