Become a surf teacher

Postby ireneto » Fri Mar 21, 2014 10:20 am

I am a surfer level beginner and my dream is to become a surf teacher. I would like to know the possibilities I have to improve my skills and basics. I want to move from Italy and have a completely new experience. Can you give me some information?

THANKS

There are surf schools in Italy , particularly Sardinia . But a few question to answer might help us to help you at least make a start.
You will need a fairly high level of skill so where do you wish to relocate?
If it is a recognised surf zone there will be schools.
How old are you? Are you male or female? There slightly different options based just on that.
If you are a total beginner then experience just going surfing to see if you get the bug and have the skill. Surfing is not for everyone :!:

But it is a great thing if you get it :!:

Hi! thanks for the reply. I'm 26, female. My target would be to teach the basics to tourists or beginners. And I would like to go abroad for the courses. I took some lessons last summer and I think I have the skills, that was the opinion of my teacher too, but obviously I need to practice!

OK where abroad? That will enable a review of surf schools, quite a few have instructors courses.
There are various levels of certification and there are schools out there that are not so good.
Good dream achievable YES.
Perhaps an appraisal of your skills wherever you end up would be helpful too. :D
These are two of the main coach training sites and give details of what is required.

I know the Australian program. The academy of surfing has aschool around the place in Europe and elsewhere, Europe should be fine.
America and Australia could have visa requirements if you wish to stay beyond learning on a tourist visa.

Hope it helps your dream.
It would be great if you post your experiences on the forum for other people to follow in your footsteps!
