What does this mean!!!!?

Hey everyone, just have a quick question that I may know the answer(s) to. But i'll ask anyway.

Today I was out in some pretty tiny waves with my 6'8 Fish and could catch the waves, but when I'd stand up, I would lose the wave.
I could easily stay prone and take the wave for most of its length.

I think it' means a few things-
-I would need a bigger board for these size waves
-The waves just aren't strong enough
-My body weight and board combination are too much for the power of the waves.

Thoughts?

Hello Blackvans1234,
Sometimes super small waves do not have enough power to allow your board come to life. You may have to wait for the surf to come up a little, or get a longboard. A 6'8" fish should ride some fairly small waves though. One thing you should try to learn is to S turn and work your board through the flat spots of the wave. It's fun to generate your own speed by turning your board, but does take a lot of practice. If you can learn how to s turn, you can keep your speed going through the flat spots of the waves, and ride further in weak surf conditions.

probably yes and yes, but maybe no and no. Did you change your stance to plane the board better, moving the back foot slightly over so your nose doesn't tip up? Did you lean slightly forward? Do you have REALLY big fins on your fish?

There are so many variables it's hard to give you a straight answer, but if you just keep surfing you'll figure it out eventually...
