Tips on getting over this bad habit

ALways used longboards and when I tried a short board for the first time I realised that I've developed a bad habit in always using my toes to push off. So, getting to my feet is a totally diff ball game. Seen a few vids on approaches on You Tube but any tips appreciated. Reckon I need to be either 1. Springing from my knees or 2. Sort of pulling myself onto the board with my feet tucked under me.

I have the same problem. In fact I do it so bad my right big toe actually hurts in the line up. I am curious to know a fix myself. I am still able to ride my short board though so I just do what I do and live with it.

I had the same problem - from learning on a mal poping off your toes seams so fast and is ok if you only want to ride long boards and mals but is a bad habbit and is not the correct way for a short board

What i did i have a old creased / damaged short board 6 8 and i put it on the floor so my feet are hanging over the back, then I find it way easyer if you bend at the knees with your feet in the air then pop from your hips / thighs.

It feels realy odd at first but keep practising all the time,

I try to do 10 a day so i dont even have to think about it when i surf,

Have a look at the oli pop towl site - its quite a gud video
