Postby CowGirlSurfer » Fri Jun 11, 2010 9:35 pm

Hi EveryOne,

I Know this question is goona sound soo stupid but when going to the first ever surf lesson what do ya wear besides a swimsuit??

Do i wear boardshorts over your swim bottoms was well as a rashguard?? I don't want to wear anything that would hinder my ablility ( while learning for the first time) to get up on the surfing board.

Thanks

cowgirl,
was hoping some ladies would reply to your question, but none have. Assuming the water in Galveston to not require wetsuit, many women will wear a bikini top and bottom underneath a pair of shorts and shirt. Shorts and shirt should be made out of rash guard fabric. The shirt can be short sleeve, if very warm water and air, or long sleeve, if not so warm. You'll want the shorts and shirt because otherwise you'll get wax on your bikini and body. You'll also find the shorts and shirt provide a little bit of protection from bruises from banging against, sitting on, and clinging to the board.

One last tip: many women put conditioner in their hair before they go into the water.

i'm a surf instructor, and most of the girls that show up are in rash guards over a bikini top and maybe girl boardshorts. i'd definitely recommend wearing a rash gaurd. one, most surf schools use soft boards (we do) and they cause rash just looking at one the wrong way. two, wavesxbikini top...need i say more? haha

I agree with twerked. The soft boards used for lessons are murder between your thighs when you are moving around and sitting up. I wear a bikini top with a rashguard (sleeve length doesn't matter) and long boardshorts with no bikini bottoms. The boardshorts are better if they are longer as they will protect your thighs. Sometimes these are hard to find as womens boardshorts are often quite short and have no pockets for keys or waterproof wallets so I buy boys boardshorts. Not as sexy looking as a bikini on its own but comfy and will help you surf longer when you are learning.Good luck !
