Tracking... what does it mean?

Okay so I have been looking around a lot of websites looking for boards and what shappers can do to change how a board preforms and this word kept popping up "may cause the board to start tracking" and "this feature reduces tracking." Paints this tracking thing in a negative light. So I have been browsing the forums looking for some sort of definition but to no prevail. Can anyone give me a good definition for what it means?
Thanks
Michael

Tracking means the board stubbornly continues on it's current trajectory as if on a track. Like a train it can't leave it's track, it just has to follow them.
I've never experienced this (I think) and if I have then I've probably blamed my own ability rather than the equipment. I think deep single concaves are infamous for this as they suck themselves to the wave face.

I feel the same, in that I would rather blame myself then the board.
Thanks for the reply
