The rule of drop-in ........ need a little bit more advice

Hi all,
I need some advice from you folks.
I have been surfing for a bit more than 1 year. Transited from a fun board to a CI Pod. Had quite a lot of fun. I surfed in beach breaks that are quite crowded, so unluckily, drop-in happens. And I try to avoid that since start surfing.
Several weeks before I was surfing on a beautiful Sunday morning. Saw a right-hander coming (I am a regular), paddled for it. There was a girl on my left i.e. closer to the breaking part of the wave who also paddled for it. By the time I got the wave, I took a look on my left and she was still paddling. I designed to pop up as I thought I have already got the wave. 2-3 seconds later I heard she yelled at me. I designed to give way to her. When I paddle back to the line-up I can't stop thinking: have I dropped in on her? I know the one who is closer to the breaking part of the wave gets the right of way. But how about if someone not as close to the peak has already been riding?
Thanks.

Yes. Simple as that.

Thx drowning. There are some confusions since it was usually so crowded and there are literally 5 guys within 10 meters paddling for the same wave. We are getting a bit used to the guy getting the wave first should take the wave......

Meh, I'm still confused... Who is the one that has priority? The one at the PEAK of the wave or...?

Whoever is closet to the breaking point of the wave; has the right of way. Even if they're in the deepest point of no return.

in this case they were both on the peak... so the girl has priority cos she's deeper. however, shoulder-hoppers (ie. someone catching a wave well after it has broken) should just wait for an empty wave.. closest to the white water or not.

or.... forget the CI Pod all together and get one of those SICK Bic/NSP mini-mals, then you've got the right to just plow through people or act as an inpenetrable barrier to everyone else, freakin sweet man, works a treat! i get so many waves!

Well jaytee, I am not going to give up the CI-Pod that easily.....at least for now. In fact I have been keep thinking and I think I should improve on the positioning from where I started to paddle.
I originally started with a funboard and it's really good. But I decided to go shorter and the Pod is kind of a transition to a standard shortboard. Thx for the advice anyway.

I think.. or, at least, I really really hope... that Jaytee's advice may have involved some sarcasm

"If you can't get around them go through them", I like that idea...

who ever is closest to the peak has the right of way. but she is a girl man! let her go and maybe you could get a number if you could pull smooth talk haha.
say something like, You could surf me all night! or I have a water bed, and i make head high waves all day! haha
