board question

sorry if this is a silly question. i am very new to surfing, and i knew pretty much nothing about it only what i saw on tv and stuff. but i am finding stuff out and practicing. only i am having trouble practicing my moves as i don't get to the ocean/sea that often at the moment. so i was talking to this guy i met at the beach who recommended i should get a land board to practice maneuvers. so thinking it would be easy enough to find one, only there are so many landboards being sold i'm finding it hard because i am new to this what the right one to get would be. i am too afraid to go into the board shop to ask them, because i have no idea if there is a proper name for this type of board. so to finally cut to the chase and ask, does this type of board have a correct name? if so, what is it called? please?

They are called indo boards. I personally don't own one but have done it just for fun. There are a bunch of imitations out there, but preety much it's a plank with a cylinder underneath.

You mean those balance beams that you see skateboarders playing around with? Why not just get a skateboard? You can practice some of the same things like turning and have more fun. Wear a helmet and pads though as you are not going to be falling on water!
