Hey er'body!

I'm a rookie to the game looking to get toes wet.
22 - 190lbs - 6'2

I'm going to be surfing in Long Beach, NY and hopefully 2-3 times a week for this summer but I'm very new having only had one lesson years back.

In any case I've been doing my homework and I'm nearing a decision on my first board.. so gimme a hand! :D

I can get this Pope Bisect for about $350

And the travel factor is definitely a plus... but I suppose the condition and durability are a bit iffy?

Or I've been offered a 7'0" McCoy Nugget as seen here (about $400 for this one):

Obviously I'm seeing it's a "big guy board" but is it actually a malibu or a minimal? Reviews seem fairly positive but I'm not sure what to go with.

Any advice is appreciated
Cheers

neither of them are ideal mate. the first one is about the right size but i'd be very dubious about the "gimic" aspect of it. pretty sure there's a good reason why the guy is selling it.

the second one is just a little bit small to learn on, but if you are really determined you could do it. probably the better buy of the two. looks pretty durable tho i would do a bit of research on fixing a tuflite board first in case you ding it, which is almost inevitable. or someone on here might be able to tell you. might be more trouble than its worth.

if you do go for the second one i'd recommend a few lessons first on a foam longboard just to get you standing and turning to give you a bit of confidence before the frustration of learning on the nugget.

You can also get new boards for that price, with the newer epoxy, lighter more durable. Try a long super fish.
