What am I doing wrong?

I'm an intermediate and I haven't surfed ina couple of months. I was surfing and paddled into a wave, then popped up and the next minute my nose was under and I'm turfed in the pit getting the spin cycle on a nice double head height wave in the middle of a set, when I come up I'm caught inside. How nice!
Anyway, what am I doing wrong, I think I might be doing too much paddling into the wave and not giving enough time to get up... so any thoughts?

you might have been leaning too far up or forward on the board when you caught it. also, you may have pushed down too high up on the board when you popped up.

heh, surfing double overhead surf and still nose diving? Just find your sweet spot while popping up because your leaning too forward which is causing you to pearl.

Cheers guys for the help. Definately will give it a go like, I usually go for the first wave in the set RJD so by the time I'm finished with the wave I don't have to paddle through a set. Or get caught inside which somehow usually happens anyway.

Yep, too far forward. Also, on bigger waves you have to take off at an angle, if you go straight forward your board wont "fit" in the wave and pearl.
