Haleiwa is a good place to start. Chuns. Avalanches on a small day to practice riding the big stuff .Avalanches is a HUGE crumbler, well as much as a crumbler as North Shore has, but its a big wave. Stay away over 10 feet as the reef and currents get stupid. There are a ton of "secret" breaks along the road. There is a break I used to surf alot right before you get to Waimea Bay. You had to jump a rental house fence that was on the beach. Nice break and held up to 10-12 feet..

Anyway its only 8 miles and you will see cars at most of the popular breaks.
