it depends if your closer to the break then its your wave u run em over but if ur riding in the whitewash then u let him go and jump off and wait for a new wave

This could be bad advice. If indeed you have the priority on the wave, first try and call him off. Most of the time that works. If not I let it go once. If it happens again you need to plan your next move.
Some choices.

1. Run him over (risking injury to you, him, and the boards and getting into a scrap with him and maybe 4 of his buds)

2. Snake him on the next wave he gets. (risking getting run over by him or getting into a scrap again.

3. Just let it go and maybe relocate to another spot.

If you're new to surfing you don't want to go throwing your weight around. Chances are that you're cutting people off without even knowing it.
Some locals are very possessive of there break and some spots are very localized.

All this to say I wouldn't just advise, run em over in there in your way.

I say feel the karma and live for the stoke. Agree to call him off and if he doesnt give in then let him go one time. If it happens a second time, I choose to change locations and know that he will get his along the way. I surf for the enjoyment and stoke and dont let anyone steal that away...The beach is long enough I can find a new line. Its normally a noob or a out of towner and the others will take care of what needs done.

The guy the came in front of you was paddling out, in that case try to turn around him while still making it around the section.

scsurf pritty much nailed it on the head. If I see sombody slice over somebody I know their in deep shizz I'll paddle in and wait for em !!!! 1 beatdown for the surf nazi shizz and 2nd beatdown if for wrekin my day!!!
and I'll have a few new surfboards when I'm done!!!!!

Just deal with it,, call em off 1 or 2 times or move if it continues to follow then stand up for your waves. You can allways do the ask approach( ask em how long theve been surfing) if reply is newbie than it's your job as a more knowledge cat to help them which inturn helps you and if they reply a long time then nail em on surf edicate like (so youve allways been snaken waves and are still alive ???)

^ I would keep the beat action in check.....never know you might bite off a bit more than you can chew....drowning sucks.

I find diplomacy in the water is best.

1st drop in on me = free verbal warning
2nd drop in on me = stern warning about wave rules
3rd drop in on me = silence....I will ride up behind you and steer you nicely off the wave. If I can't catch you because are a ripper, my silence hurts when you whip that roundhouse cutty and my log breaks your potato chip in half. (Did exactly that to a ripper at lowers one day after he had snaked me several times)

Yeah there are some breaks that just get crowded and getting dropped in on is bound to happen, but running them over isn't great advice. Fins can do a good amount of damage and in most cases the guy is a noob anyways and probly didn't mean to drop in on you. Best bet is to say something and if it keeps happening just move down the beach, not worth hassling over, especially for the crap waves we get in florida.

I usually do an aerial off the lip and spin my board really fast, sorta like a cutting blade on a lawn mower, so I chop off his head, bail my board and use his lifeless body as my bboogie board. Try it...
