paddle hard for the wave and face your board in the direction you want to go. Make sure your in the right spot, or a ride over the falls wont be too much fun

Hey i paddle out in 8ft after about a month still got thrashed mind you

you learn sum valuable lessons that way
In answer to poster - turns are generated usually from your back foot and your mid section of your body. Look in the direction you want to go and your body should adjust acordingly. As your body starts to be more instictive your turns will become more fluid and aggressive

The most universal way of portraying wave height is, ankle, knee, waist, chest, shoulder, head, 1-5 foot OH, double OH, triple OH, etc...
It helps more people interpret the actual size wave one is trying to give a picture of.

^ good call.
I’d also throw in mushy or fast. Closed-out or peaky.
Shoulder high waves that are breaking mushy and peaky (San O) are a world of difference from the same shoulder high waves breaking fast and closed-out (Seal Beach).
Oh yeah there’s also glassy or blown-out.

Aboluty sc and ronin .
O.k. surf4life got your pm so with the lil bit of info I have (area mainly) and yes that's a nice spot!! when you popup focus on a strait drive and comit to the drop with your front foot (goofy or regular don't matter) giving the presure push and when ya get scootin down the face and aproach the bottom (staying bent in the knees and nice wide stable stance of course)(look first!! where the eyes go the body flows) apply some force(not to much) to the rear foot and lean into the turn digging in some of the the rail and useing the fin fiol, balance the amount the front and rear push force to controll acceleration/brakes and remember( use your eyes first) and your upper torso/arms to project(eye view) direction working your feet, legs to produce board projection in your turns and cutbacks. Hope this helps ya good luck and keep tryin, just make sure your commited to the drop first. When and once you get a few bigger wave strait drops, confidence builds and skill (turns tec.) comes in time.
