hey when i (6'0") lay on my shortboard (6'0") so its not pearling or corking, my feet are like 6 inches past the tail. is that cool? cause if i were to lay with my toes touching the tail, i would probably do a nose dive to the bottom and drown twice.

Yea man if ya didn't your nose would sink under just padilin around, just lift your feet so the board planes the surface and mark your sweet spot on your deck where your eyes, chin etc goes and then when your face is in that spot your ready to tear it up.

honestly if your asking that sort of question, that board is going to be to small for you.

yeah i just realized its a stupid question. i know on long boards u want your toes at hte back. but once in the water i realized that you would pearl so bad u do a frontflip just sittin in the water. anyway i found the perfect spoton this board for paddling and catching waves. it catches the waves nice and its actaully not to hard to keep it from pearling once u catch the wave. its actually pretty easy to pop up on. I see some ppl bring their knee up on the back foot leg and put their back foot on the tail and then pop up. i understand thats a horrible habbit to get into. so i just push up super hard use my back knee to push on the tail then quickly crouch. my back foot gets planted like 1 millisecond before my front foot then yeah. i just got to practice popping up alot. its hard for me to do it in time. many a time ive tried to pop up but only to late and i went down the wave laying down then pearled when i hit the bottom and slid off the front of my board and rode the bottom of the ocean with my face. eyes and mouth full of sand and fat lip.
whatever i guess i might not know xxxxx but yeah.

not sure if the sarcasim button was turned on or not but,
what i meant by my comment was its obvious by that question that you have just made the switch down from a long board in which case a board that short is not going to be a suitable progression board to use. Even though it has some width and thickness, its not an 'ideal' step down from a long board.

thanks for a constructive reply dude.
yeah i know what u mean. it is rather short. but its all i could afford price wise. yeah. i know its not 'ideal' and i deal board would be like 6-8 inches taller than me and its gonna be a Pain in the butt and be frustrating. But i accept that. i have 5 months of being able to surf 5 days a week so it will just take a TON of effort and time which im prepared to give. cause its really fun learning and i just tell myself when im frustrated that its gonna be hard as hell.
but thats just an excuse to get out there everyday and hack away at it.

yeah thats cool, i am 6'4 and surf a 6'1 fish on sloppy days, its all about adjustment. The nose of your board should be just above the surface of the water. You should find it easier to paddle when you are positioned on your noard correctly.

ok dude why point that out really? i said that cause saying "only pros can ride it" is not helpful really. perhaps i should say i could ride it eventually. but thanks for pointing that out. it also is helpful. but i can pop up. i just started shortboarding. i get better at popping up and paddling and sitting and ducking every time i go out. ok.
this thread should be locked or deleted cause it is a stupid thread its an obvious question that i dont need anymore answers to. ok bye
