ok, so yes im new to the surfing world and i dont really know anyone since i just moved so could you please help me on some questions?please dont laugh if my questions seems totally stupid lol :lol:
1.what is a BIC?
2.im 5'3 and about 108 and a swimmer on my highschool team and i dont know what kind of board to get..im really trying to stay away from longboards tho.

1: a bic is a epoxy board...also called a pop-out. basically, it is a surfboard laminated/glass with a epoxy resin instead of normal resin and fiberglass. check out some of the other posts in this site...there's a huge discussion about 'em.

2: you can learn on a shortboard, especially someone your size. i did it that way although that was a harder way. but you only have $ for one board, totally doable. as a swimmer, you'll have a much easier time than most b/c of your advantages in paddling, balance, etc. i haven't swam competitively since my soph. yr. in college and it still helps my surfing today. actually, when it's flat, i'll still jump in the pool and train to keep the arms movin'
