picked up a cheap gun board

Postby Eli » Wed Aug 04, 2004 8:09 am

I just picked up a gun board for really cheap (7' 5")- is it going to be impossible for me (total newbie) to learn on this?

pretty much impossible. Unless you have got the balls to learn in big waves

nothing's impossible Eli.

It wil be tough though - they;re not designed to surf in smaller waves or white water really and that's the place you;d want to start as a beginner.

They do have plenty of volume and length to them I guess though.

On the positive side - if you master being able to surf a gun as a beginner then as soon as you step onto a regular mini-mal you'll be firing!!

Guns are long but they are not wide.
If they were they would be a minimal

My honest opinion is get rid of it straight away.

1) You will find it difficult to catch any waves with a gun
2) The surf will normally have to be a decent size. Not to put you down but when starting you will not even be able to get to the waves outback
3) they are narrow and balancing on the board will be difficult
4) All this will add up to you not really progressing at all and getting frustrated with surfing

Believe you me its difficult enough even with the right board.

Cannot you not sell it on at the price you paid
