how far forward and back

just wondering, when you are paddling in how far forward/back to you sit on your board. i was told to sit so you can touch ur boards nose with your hands, fully oustreched arms, but now im on a 6 foot board, im petty close to the fromt of my board. am i doin anything wrong?

depending on the rocker the nose should really be between 1 and 3 inches out of the water i guess. try shifting your weight and see what you can get the most efficiency from. also as a very basic rule ofthumb the deck logo is usually in the "sweet spot" so i your chest is over that you should be about right

if im sitting deep, a bit back. on a small day youll want to get a fraction more forward

if i go from sitting to paddling i usually put my palm on the nose pop the board under me and when my arms slighty bent im usually in the right spot

find your spot and wax up until that point, should give you a reference point

you should feel a diff between to forward and not enough.

to forward and tip get low or under water and you willfeel like you are plowing or pushing water. to back and nose will be high and you will feel as if you are towing a water skier. get er in the sweet spot and she will glide on the water much better.

There are no general rules.

Each board has a particular "sweet spot" for each rider. Your job is to find that spot, and utilize for the best performance.

yea, i suppose the board i noticed this on is new to me, will give it a while i think. when i first started i was way too far back and couldnt paddle tho...well i learned the hard and frustrating way :bang: :bang:
