fear of bigger waves

i just started surfing again and the waves where i surf are ether iny or 1.5-2.0meters I want to surf the bigger stuff but I'm affraid of them so am I stuck riding the tiny waves or what
please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or getting caught inside! Not that it happens to me too often except on this VERY rare occasion.
Did i mention i'd been to costa rica this year?

bananabum...
from my experiences in getting used to bigger waves... surfing is alot about confidence.
dont try and jump straight to the bigger waves and think you will lose your fear of them, gradually work up... once you see that you can take of on them and the wave isnt really going to hurt you will gain confidence and gradually start surfing bigger waves.
i still feel fear when taking off on reef breaks over 6 foot (not 6 foot face, propper 6 foot), but now this fear is something that is part of the rush with surfing bigger waves.
Fear is pretty normal, there is a select crew that can manage their fear so they will try any size wave, but obviously that is not with us as im stuck at 8 foot, but content enough not to feel like i need to surf bigger.
