how short can I go?

Okay I'm 13 and I'm

5'3
120 lbs

I have gotten really good on my
7'6 NEV 21.5 x 2 3/4
until the day the nose broke off!I'm still very upset.

I wanted maybe a 6'1 or 6'2 I rode I think it was a 6 foot fish about 3 inches thick,not too wide but I didn't care and I was able to stand.(It was a friend's board.)

So now I want to know what to get. I know I asked a similar question before but here I need more info cause 6'10s giagantic.

I was thinking pointy nose alot of rocker (waves are very small in Rockaway NY) Swallow tail 19 inches by 2 inches?

I'm willing to see other sizes but not above 6'5 and 2.5 inches thick cause duck-diving is a must.Width I really don't care about I mean 18-20 good for me.

I can ride the wave in but I have some problems turning because of stinky waves.I need a board thats gonna turn fast enough to ride the line.

(I'm sorry for sounding like a kook lol)

ok you are definetly gonna get a fish tail for sure. i am 14 and about the same deminsions except i am 5'7. if you get the fish there will be more of a single rocker but the fish tail will give you the turning ability. about 16-17 inches wide. also with the fish they paddle like you wouldnt believe so you can get away with riding a board much smaller. i am 5'7 and i am gonna buy a 5'5 fish. but for you i would say about 6'0 or 6'1. they duckdive like a dream too. when it comes to going down the line this will probably help you b/c it will have to speed and manuverability to get you past that section of white wash that keeps you from goin down the line. also how big are the waves you will be riding? this lays a key factor in size.

they are THE WORST waves known to man. I called a few shops in Long Beach and they're all saying to either get a fish or long shortboard.(6'6) I have to see. I wanted a proformence board but I guess it would suck to use it here so I think I'm gonna go with the fish. The paddling on fish is very easy they are great fun boards...I think I will get one and when I'm REALLY good I'll get a shorty for competition.

So how thick and wide should I get it? And also how would a 6'1 or 6'2 shorty do on small mushy waves? Do they turn like fish too? Alot of people said you have to keep moving with shortys and it takes work.

(I am sorry for sounding like a kook for 2 posts in a row.lol.SHorTy heh)

i have a shorty and it took me a while to get the hang of it and actually be able to snap turn it (about 2 months of surfing 2-3 times a week). i suggest you get the fish 6'1. 16-17 inches wide. fishes were made for crappy surf and are actually considered cheater boards buy some kooks b/c they work so well.

alright sounds cool thanks! I'm gonna go for a fish probably but If I see something else surfable I'll get it. I think I might get the fish and then get a shorty at some point afterwards, but fish sound perfect. How thick? Gotta duck dive.Once I was on a 3 inch thick one.Paddling was so easy a 2 year old could've worked that board...

(((coz thanks for all your help!)))
