I,ve been riding a 7 9 minimal for the last yaer and have just bought a 6' 8" 21 wide short / fun board. going to test it out hopfuly at the weekend.
Has any one got any tips for me for my transition from riding a mini mal to a short board.
I have put a tail pad on it and only waxed were i think my front foot should be.
Any advise on foot postioning etc would be appreciated

Well if your headed over east you've picked a hell of a wkend to try it out.
Its been quite a while since i was in your position but what i used to do was to get what i thought was my ideal position, stretch my arm out and see where on the nose my hand was, and adjust accordingly for every success disaster. It won't take long.
If you do head east this wkend hit South Bay or Filey its going to be big on all N facing breaks, and i mean big.

Did the arm trick for paderling position and it worked a treat thanks north swell,
How about foot positioning? should my back foot be round about the center of the three fins and my front foot around the midle of the board?
At the week end my tail kept sinking thought this was because my back foot was correct but my front foot was to fare back.
Any advise would be much appreciated

normally the tail sinks a little on a shortboard, how much we talking? normally its body positioning, if you're talking about what i think you are, try moving forward a little bit

yes and no. your back foot shouldn't be directly near the tail, this would cause the tail to sink. it should be, well for me anyway, near the front of your tail pad; and your front foot near the center of the board. try practicing this out of the water a few times to get the feel of were your feet should be. gl
oh yeah and dont put too much weight on the back foot. that will sink the board too. v
