Be friendly. A smile goes a long way, and you'll find people give you a lot more help and encouragement if you show a good attitiude.

i'm still not all that great at surfing but getting there. I was having trouble catching what seemed like perfectly good waves at times. Quite often i was popping up too early on the top of the wave.

The tip i was given by a really good surfer up here is a simple but really good tip - When you think you've caught the wave, make 2 extra paddles before popping up!

I find that this has helped me a bit!
